Tilia Chardonnay 75cl
★★★★★ 5.0 (1 review)Pour this and you get a glass full of sunshine. Ripe pineapple, pear and peach up front, then a soft hum of vanilla underneath, and it finishes clean instead of heavy. It's the white you want when dinner's a bit special but you don't want to overthink it. Tropical, full, properly dry. Say the word and we'll have it at your door, cold and quick, whatever the hour.
Stick your nose in and it's a fruit bowl on a good day: pineapple, ripe pear, a bit of peach, a little white-flower lift. The first sip is full and rounded, all that tropical fruit carrying through, with a gentle vanilla and toasty, almost crème-brûlée warmth from three months in French oak. It never gets sweet though. The finish snaps back clean and a touch mineral, so you're reaching for the next sip. Dry, generous, easy to love.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
This is the work of Familia Zuccardi, one of Mendoza's best-known wine families, out in the high desert vineyards of western Argentina. The name Tilia is Latin for the linden tree, the leafy ones you see lining streets and plazas all over Mendoza, so the bottle is basically named after the local shade. High altitude, big sunny days and cool nights are what give Argentine Chardonnay that ripe fruit with the acidity still intact. Zuccardi nail the balance.
