Here's the thing about Duchessa Lia: it's Italian wine that doesn't make you work for it. Piedmont roots, easy attitude. Whether you want fizz for a celebration or a red for a quiet Tuesday, there's a bottle here with your name on it.
Start with the fun stuff. The Fragolino range is sweet, strawberry-scented sparkling wine that basically tastes like a party in a glass. Grab the pink Duchessa Lia Fragolino Rosé, the deeper Fragolino Rosso, or the lighter Fragolino Bianco. All KSh1,669, all for people who think wine should be a little bit joyful.
Want something with proper sparkle credentials? The Duchessa Cuvée Brut (KSh1,729) is your dry, crisp, raise-a-glass move. If sweet's more your speed, the Moscato D'Asti (KSh2,369) is gently fizzy and low on alcohol, all peach and honey. It's the one you keep sipping after you swore you'd only have a glass. The Asti Secco (KSh2,349) splits the difference: bubbly and bright, but drier.
Not in a fizz mood? The reds bring it. Barbera D'Asti DOCG (KSh1,999) is juicy and food-friendly, the kind of red that loves a plate of nyama choma. There's also a Barbera d'Asti Bio (KSh2,299) if you want the organic one.
On the white end, Santo Stefano Belbo Gavi (KSh2,469) is your zippy, citrusy pour. Lovely with seafood, or just well chilled on its own. The Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato (KSh1,689) is the same grape for less cash.
Sommelier aside you can flex at the table: that Gavi and the Cortese come from the same Cortese grape. Now you know.
Best part? You don't have to plan ahead. Pick a bottle and we'll run it across Nairobi to your door, any hour. Late dinner, surprise guests, or you just decided tonight calls for bubbles. Sorted.
One nudge: keep it to the over-18s and pace yourself. Good wine's better when you remember it.
