Pour it cold and it pings. This is the Italian white that tastes like a squeeze of lemon over green apple, dry as can be, with a clean mineral snap that makes your mouth water for the next sip. It is the bottle you crack while the prawns hit the grill, or when you just want something sharp and grown-up that does not weigh you down. Quietly classy, easy to love, and we can have it at your door fast.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

On the nose it is delicate and fresh: lemon zest, green apple, a little white-flower lift, maybe a whisper of peach. Then it lands light and bone-dry on the palate, zippy with acidity, that flinty, almost wet-stone minerality the Gavi hills are famous for, and a faint toasty almond note right at the end that keeps you coming back. No sweetness, no heaviness. Just bright, clean and precise.

Where it's from

Gavi comes from a small patch of hills in Piedmont, up in Italy's north-west near the Ligurian coast, and by law it's made from 100% Cortese, a local white grape that holds onto its zingy acidity. The region earned its top DOCG status back in 1998, so that little stamp on the label means the real deal. This one is Balbi Soprani, a project from the Capetta family, who have been making wine in Piedmont since 1953. Old hands, in other words.
