B&G Passeport Rosé D'Anjou 75cl
Cold glass, salmon-pink in the light, and a mouthful of wild strawberry and cherry that lands soft and a little sweet. That's the whole pitch. This is the bottle for a slow Friday on the balcony, a sundowner that needs zero homework, or the easy crowd-pleaser at a braai when half the table doesn't really do wine. It's gentle, fruity and made to be drunk fresh, not pondered. Get it properly chilled and it just goes down.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Pour it and you get raspberry, cherry and redcurrant straight off the nose, bright and a bit perfumed. On the tongue it's soft and smooth, all wild strawberry and small red berries with a touch of sweetness that rounds everything off. It's semi-sweet, so think gentle and juicy rather than bone-dry and sharp. The finish is light and clean, just enough freshness to keep you reaching for the next sip. Easy, fruity, no rough edges.

Where it's from

This comes from Barton & Guestier, one of France's oldest wine houses, started back in 1725 by an Irishman named Thomas Barton who set up shop in Bordeaux. The wine itself is Rosé d'Anjou, an appellation in the Loire Valley between Tours and Nantes, made mainly from Grolleau and Gamay grapes. The pink comes from a short maceration, just a few hours of skin contact, and the gentle sweetness is left in on purpose by chilling the wine to stop fermentation. Old house, classic style, nothing pretentious about it.
