Miraval Studio Rosé 75cl
★★★★★ 5.0 (1 review)Pour this and watch a Friday turn soft. It's that barely-there pink Provence rosé, the kind that looks like a sunset and drinks bone dry. Wild red berries, a squeeze of citrus, then a little salty zing on the finish that makes you want another sip immediately. Get it properly cold and it's the easiest yes on the table, whether that's a balcony in Kilimani or a long late one with mates.
Pale and bright in the glass. You'll catch fresh strawberry and raspberry up front, then pink grapefruit and a little white-flower lift. It's dry, so don't expect sweet. What you get instead is a clean, juicy mouthful with a saline, almost sea-air twist on the end (that's the Mediterranean talking, the vineyards sit close to the coast). Crisp acidity keeps it lively from first sip to last.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
This comes from Château Miraval in Provence, southern France, the famous estate co-owned by Brad Pitt. Studio is the estate's more easygoing rosé, a blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Rolle (plus a splash of the local Tibouren) from high vineyards near the Mediterranean. The name is a nod to Miraval's other claim to fame: a legendary recording studio built on the property back in 1977, where the likes of Pink Floyd and Sting laid down tracks. Pretty cool pedigree for a bottle of pink.
