The Beach House Rose 75cl
You want pink, you want it cold, you don't want to think too hard. This is it. The Beach House Rosé is all sun-warm strawberry and watermelon with a squeeze of lime to keep it honest. It drinks dry, so it never goes cloying or syrupy, but there's just enough fruit-sweetness to make the first sip feel like a holiday. Late nyama choma, a quiet balcony, a Friday that earned itself: pour it for any of them.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Pale salmon-pink in the glass. The nose leads with watermelon and ripe strawberry, a little floral lift like strawberry blossom. Take a sip and you get sweet strawberry up front, raspberry behind it, then a clean streak of lime and zippy acidity that wipes the slate clean. It's technically dry, but the fruit is so generous it reads as gently sweet, lively rather than heavy. Short, fresh finish that just makes you want the next sip.

Where it's from

This comes from Douglas Green, one of South Africa's old, dependable Western Cape names, who do a whole easy-going Beach House range. What makes the rosé fun is the grape: Pinotage, South Africa's very own crossing of Pinot Noir and Cinsault, first bred back in 1925. As a red it can be bold and smoky, but barely kissed against the skins like this, it turns out pale, fruity and bright. Same DNA, completely different mood.
