Booch - Elderflower 300ml
★★★★★ 5.0 (3 reviews)Want something that feels like a proper drink but won't touch your night? This is it. Booch Elderflower is a Kenyan kombucha: lightly fizzy fermented tea with a soft floral lift, tangy enough to be interesting and gently sweet so it never feels like medicine. Pour it over ice when the heat's up, or hand it to the friend who's driving so they're not stuck nursing a warm soda all evening. Zero alcohol, grown-up taste.
First sip is that signature kombucha tang, a clean, almost apple-cidery sourness from the fermented tea, then the elderflower floats in over the top. Think soft and floral with a hint of pear, the kind of flavour that smells like a garden but tastes light and dry. The fizz is gentle and natural, more champagne pinprick than fizzy-drink blast. It finishes crisp and low on sugar, so you actually want the next mouthful instead of feeling coated.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
Booch is Kenyan through and through. Eoin Flinn brewed his first batch in his Nairobi kitchen back in 2016, after picking up a SCOBY (the living culture that does the fermenting) on a trip to see his brother in Uganda. It grew from that into a proper local craft outfit. The base is Kenyan oolong tea, cultured with the SCOBY and flavoured with locally sourced fruit and botanicals, so this elderflower bottle is genuinely made here, not imported and rebranded.

- What does Booch Elderflower Kombucha 250ml taste like?
Tangy and lightly fizzy fermented tea with a soft, floral elderflower note and a hint of pear. It's gently sweet and finishes clean and low on sugar.
- What is the ABV?
It's 0% alcohol, a non-alcoholic fermented soft drink. No booze, just a grown-up flavour.
- What is kombucha?
It's sweet tea fermented with a living culture called a SCOBY (a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast). The culture turns the sugar into a tangy, lightly sparkling drink. Booch uses Kenyan oolong tea as its base.
- How do I serve it?
Cold, straight from the fridge, in a wine glass or over ice. It's also a great non-alcoholic mixer, top it with soda for a zero-proof spritz.
- What pairs with it?
The tang loves grilled and fatty food like nyama choma or grilled fish, plus spicy snacks and citrusy salads.
- Is it sweet or low in sugar?
It's gently sweet but low in sugar, a lighter swap for soda. Most of the sugar gets eaten up during fermentation.
