This comes from Van Loveren in Robertson, deep in South Africa's Western Cape, where the Retief family have been running things for generations under the Four Cousins name. The clever bit is the marula, fruit of the indigenous African marula tree (the same wild fruit elephants are famously fond of). It ripens to a sweet, slightly tart tropical flavour, and here it's blended with fresh cream into something unmistakably African. It's picked up silver at the International Wine & Spirit Competition along the way, which tells you the smoothness isn't an accident.
