Gran Castillo Tempranillo Rose 75cl
Pour this when you want something pretty and fruity that doesn't ask you to think too hard. Pale rose-petal pink, full of strawberry and raspberry, with just enough sweetness to feel friendly and just enough zip to keep it lively. It's the bottle you crack on a warm Nairobi evening, on the balcony, with people you like. Cold, simple, gone too soon.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First sniff is all summer fruit. Fresh strawberry, a bit of raspberry, a whisper of something floral behind it. The colour gives it away too: pale pink with a faint orange glow, the kind of rose you want to photograph before you drink it. On the palate it's soft and juicy, gently off-dry so the red berries come through sweet, then a clean little lift of acidity keeps it bright instead of sticky. Light-bodied, no harsh edges, nothing to puzzle over. Easy company.

Where it's from

This comes from Bodegas Gran Castillo in Valencia, on Spain's sun-soaked eastern coast. They're one of the region's big, well-run wineries, and Tempranillo is Spain's signature red grape, the same one behind the famous reds of Rioja. Here it gets a much shorter time on the skins, just enough to blush the juice pink rather than turn it red. The result is this breezy, fruit-forward rose made for drinking now, not for cellaring.

Soft, juicy and fruity. Think fresh strawberry and raspberry, gently off-dry, with a bright lift of acidity to keep it refreshing. Light-bodied and very easy to drink.

Where is it from?

Valencia, Spain, made by Bodegas Gran Castillo from the Tempranillo grape.
