Pour it cold and it does exactly what you want on a hot Nairobi evening: zippy citrus, a snap of green apple, then a clean dry finish that leaves your mouth ready for the next sip. It's light, it's dry, it's friendly. And because it's a 5L box, one of these keeps a whole crowd topped up through a long Friday without a single trip back to the fridge for another bottle. Grab it when the gang's coming over and you can't be bothered counting bottles.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Stick your nose in first and you get fresh citrus, a bit of green apple, and a soft whiff of something floral. The first sip is bright and lean, lemon-and-lime sharpness leading into crisp pear and apple, nothing sweet hanging around. Dry means the fruit shows up then bows out fast, so the finish is clean and a little mouth-watering, the kind that makes you want another go. Easy to drink, never heavy.

Where it's from

This is properly Kenyan wine, grown and bottled in the Rift Valley. Leleshwa farms its grapes at Morendat Farm near Naivasha, sitting around 2,000 metres up on the equator, where cool nights and warm days let the fruit ripen slow and hold onto all that fresh acidity. The name comes from the aromatic leleshwa tree that grows wild around the vineyards. What started as a weekend hobby in the 90s now turns out tens of thousands of bottles a year. Mzabibu, by the way, is just Swahili for grapevine.
