Pé Branco 75cl. 2020
Pour this one straight from the fridge and you get a glassful of sunshine. Lemon and ripe peach up front, a little white-flower lift, then a dry, mouthwatering snap that makes you want the next sip before you've finished this one. It's the bottle you grab when there's grilled fish on the jiko, the evening's warm, and you want something easy but actually interesting. Dry, fresh, fuss-free, and it overdelivers for what it is.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Smell it and you're in citrus and orchard territory: lemon zest, ripe peach, a bit of yellow apple, with a soft floral, white-blossom thing drifting over the top. The sip is light-to-medium bodied and smooth, fruit-forward but bone dry, no sweetness sneaking in. What makes it sing is the acidity, a crisp, juicy edge that keeps everything lively. It signs off with a gentle spicy tingle and a clean, lingering finish. Easy to love, not boring.

Where it's from

This comes from Herdade do Esporão, one of the most iconic estates in Portugal's Alentejo, the warm, rolling wine country southeast of Lisbon. "Pé" means "foot" in Portuguese, a nod to the old tradition of treading grapes by foot. It's the easygoing entry into Esporão's range, made from local Alentejo grapes (Antão Vaz, Arinto and Perrum), fermented in stainless steel with no oak so the fruit stays bright and pure. Worth knowing: Esporão's vineyards are certified organic, so there's some serious farming behind this friendly little bottle.
