Picture a pale, coppery-pink rosé that smells like a bowl of fresh strawberries and tastes dry, not sweet. That's this one. It's Malbec, the grape Argentina is famous for, but spun into something light and easy to keep pouring on a warm Nairobi evening. Chill it down, grab a couple of glasses, and let us get it to your door.
First whiff is all red fruit: ripe cherry, strawberry and a little tug of redcurrant, with a soft hint of vanilla in the background. The sip is where it earns its keep. It's dry and clean, the berry flavour carries through, and there's a bright, mouth-watering finish that makes you want another go. Refined but never serious about itself. Think of it as Malbec in a summer mood.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
This comes from Bodega La Rural in Mendoza, the high-altitude heart of Argentine wine, under the Rutini Wines family. San Felipe is one of their long-running labels, famous for its old-school 'canteen' bottle. The grapes for the rosé are hand-picked, and it's made the way they do it in Provence, gentle and pale, then fermented in stainless steel to keep all that fresh fruit intact. Serious winemaking pedigree, very unfussy result.
