Teacher's Highland Cream 750ml-15%
Exceptional★★★★★
Pour this and you get a little campfire wink most cheap blends never offer. Teacher's leads with honey and toffee, then a thread of soft smoke curls in behind it, warm and rounded, not harsh. It's the bottle you want on the table for a long night of nyama choma and good arguments. Smooth enough to sip, bold enough to mix, and it always pulls more than its weight.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First whiff is malt, toffee and vanilla, with a gentle waft of Highland peat smoke sitting underneath like coals. On the tongue it's creamy and honeyed, with soft orchard fruit (think apple and ripe pear) before that smoky undertone comes back for the finish. The end is warm and a touch spicy, fading slow and silky. Nothing sharp, nothing thin. For a budget-friendly blend, the smoke gives it real character.

Where it's from

This one started in a Glasgow grocer's shop. William Teacher began selling whisky from his wife's shop in the 1830s and built a name for blending. The clever move came later: his son Adam built the Ardmore distillery in Aberdeenshire in 1898 purely to guarantee a steady supply of peated Highland malt. That Ardmore single malt is still the smoky 'fingerprint' at the heart of the blend, and Teacher's packs a famously high malt content for the category, which is exactly why it tastes richer than its price tag suggests. Today it's made in Scotland under Suntory.
