Talisker Port Ruighe 70cl
Picture the classic Talisker hit, sea-salt, smoke and a black-pepper kick, then someone folds in a wave of sweet red berries and ripe plums. That's Port Ruighe. It's Skye's seaside swagger softened by a finish in ruby port casks, so it lands savoury and sweet at the same time. Pour one after a long day, or after the nyama choma's done and the night's just getting good. It rewards slow sipping.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

On the nose it's the sea first, briny and smoky, then warm strawberries, milk chocolate and a flash of orange peel sneak in. The first sip is that signature Talisker brine, but sweeter and thicker than usual, coating your mouth. Red berries and ripe plum sit right next to a gentle chilli-pepper warmth and cocoa. The finish is long, smoky and warming, the kind that lingers and tells you to take another sip.

Where it's from

Talisker is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye, perched right on the wild west coast where the weather does whatever it likes. That sea air is basically the house style, salt and smoke in every bottle. Port Ruighe (you say it 'Portree') is named after Skye's old trading port and tips its hat to the Scottish merchants who once shipped port wine across rough seas. Fitting, since this dram gets finished in ruby port casks after maturing in oak. It joined Talisker's core range back in 2013.
