You know that bottle. The matte-black one that lands on the table and instantly makes everyone sit up. That's this. Pour it ice-cold and you get a deep, showy pink, a rush of fresh strawberry, and fizz that's lively without being sharp. It's celebration in a glass without the champagne-sized dent in your wallet. Birthday, Friday-just-because, or a long night that needs a proper opener. We'll have it at your door cold and fast.
First whiff is all ripe strawberry and a little blackcurrant, with a soft floral lift behind it, like a rose garden you walked past. Take a sip and the bubbles are fine and gentle, the fruit is generous, and there's just enough freshness to keep it from going sweet and sticky. It's smooth, it's friendly, and it goes down dangerously easy. Not bone-dry, not a dessert wine. It sits right in that crowd-pleasing middle where nobody at the table complains.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
It's a proper French sparkling rosé, made in Provence in the sunny south of France from Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, the same grapes behind the region's famous pink wines. The fizz comes from the Charmat method, a tank-fermentation trick that keeps the fruit fresh and bright. Behind it all is Sovereign Brands, who launched Luc Belaire back in 2011, and the multi-generation Piffaut family who actually make the wine. That instantly recognisable black bottle and its long run in music videos turned it into a global party staple. Rick Ross even became part-owner, which is how it picked up the nickname Ricky Rozay.
