Excelsior is the South African farm that makes good wine feel effortless. Generous, friendly reds. Bright, zippy whites. A rose that actually shows up for the party. Nothing stuffy, nothing overpriced, just bottles that punch well above what you pay for them. Twelve to pick from here, and honestly, every one of them is an easy yes.

This is where Excelsior earns its keep, so start in the red wine corner. Pour the Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon 75cl and you get dark fruit, a hint of cocoa and a smooth, rounded finish that was basically born for a plate of nyama choma. The Excelsior Merlot 75cl is its softer, plummier cousin, the kind of easy company that makes a Tuesday feel like a small occasion. Both sit at KSh1799 and drink like more. Want it sweeter and forgiving? The Excelsior Purebred Sweet Red is your gateway pour at KSh1499, juicy enough to win over the mate who swears they "don't really do wine". For a bigger, bolder blend, the Purebred Shiraz Merlot 75cl stacks dark berries with a little grip.
Feeling fancier? The Excelsior Paddock Shiraz 75cl brings the pepper and spice. And when the night actually matters, open the Excelsior SL Shiraz 75cl at KSh3769 or the Excelsior Evan Cab Sauv 75cl at KSh3799. Those two are made for slowing down and paying attention.
Hot Nairobi evening doing its thing? Chill the Excelsior Sauvignon Blanc 75cl, all bright citrus and a clean green snap. The Excelsior Chardonnay 75cl goes creamier and rounder, lovely next to grilled chicken, while the Excelsior Viognier 75cl is the soft, floral one at a very friendly KSh1249. Prefer your white light and zippy? The Purebred Excelsior Sauvignon Blanc keeps it casual. Round out the whites with the Excelsior Caitlyn Rose 75cl, a rose that's pretty, easy and tailor-made for a sundowner.
Quick aside while you decide: Excelsior is a family farm out in Robertson, South Africa, and those horse-flavoured names (Paddock, Caitlyn) tip a hat to the thoroughbreds they breed on the same land. You don't need the backstory to enjoy the bottle, but it's a fun one to drop while you pour.
And the good part: we run wine across Nairobi fast, any hour. Crave a bottle at 2pm or 2am, we make it appear.
Pour responsibly, share with good people, and keep it strictly 18+.
