Sunday pilau, a big pot of biryani, or just a clean plate of steamed rice with stew. This is the grain that makes it sing. Pearl Pishori is proper Kenyan aromatic rice from Mwea, and the moment it hits the pot your kitchen smells like a celebration. The 2kg pack is the sweet spot: enough for a family feast, easy to keep stocked.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Pishori is Kenya's answer to basmati. Long, slender grains that cook up soft, fluffy and separate, never a sticky clump (as long as you rinse it first). The smell is the giveaway, a warm nutty, faintly floral aroma that fills the room as it steams. The flavour leans naturally a touch sweet, which is exactly why it carries a spiced pilau or a rich biryani so well. No artificial flavours, no preservatives, just rice.

Where it's from

This is real Mwea pishori, grown in the Mwea irrigation scheme in central Kenya, the heartland for the country's aromatic rice. The name pishori actually traces back to Peshawar, where the ancestor strains came from, but decades in Kenyan soil and climate gave it its own shorter grain and signature scent. Pearl is milled by Capwell Industries, who pack it pure and Kenyan grown.
