Quereu Carménère 75cl
You know that red that just gets along with everyone? This is it. Quereu pours a deep, almost violet-edged red and tastes like ripe black fruit with a little chocolate sneaking in behind it. Soft on the tannins, full of flavour, and it lingers nicely instead of vanishing on you. Grab it for a grill night or a slow Friday in. We'll have it at your door fast, whatever the hour.
First whiff is dark fruit. Think blackberry and ripe plum, with a soft hint of chocolate underneath and a little spice on the edges. The sip is smooth and generous, properly dry but never harsh, with tannins so gentle they basically wave you through. It's full-flavoured without being heavy, and the finish hangs around for a good while. Easy to love, no homework required.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
This comes from Chile's Central Valley, made by Fox Wines. Carménère is Chile's signature grape, a Bordeaux variety that nearly went extinct in France and quietly found a second life across the Andes, where it now makes some of the best reds in the country. Quereu itself is named after a little Chilean bird that nests in the vineyards. Local lore says the quereu showing up was the old sign that harvest was near. Nice touch for something so easy to drink.
