Pop this when you want something sweet, pink and barely-there boozy. It pours a pretty rose-gold pink with soft little bubbles, and the first sniff is straight-up rose petals and red berries. At 7% it's light enough to sip slow through a long Nairobi evening without flooring you. Think dessert you drink. Cake on the table, this in the glass, everyone happy.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Sweet and floral, but not sticky. You'll smell roses first, then cherry and raspberry, with a little citrus and a herby whisper of sage in the background. The fizz is fine and gentle, more soft tickle than aggressive sparkle. There's just enough fresh acidity underneath the sugar (it carries around 80 g/l) to keep it from going flat-sweet, so it stays drinkable glass after glass. Low alcohol, high charm.

Where it's from

This comes from Bottega, the family winery up in Veneto, Northern Italy. The clever bit is the grape: it leans on Incrocio Manzoni, a crossing dreamed up in the early 1900s by Professor Luigi Manzoni at the wine school in Conegliano, who crossed Raboso Piave with Muscat of Hamburg. That Muscat side is where all the rosy, grapey perfume comes from. Bottega bottles it as their 'wine of love', which tells you exactly the mood they're going for.

Quick questions

What is the price of Bottega Manzoni Moscato Rose 75cl?

Bottega Manzoni Moscato Rose 75cl is KSh 5,029 at Oaks & Corks. Order online for delivery in 30 minutes for most areas in Nairobi, or next day countrywide.

What does Bottega Manzoni Moscato Rosé 75cl taste like?

Sweet, floral and fruity. You get rose petals, cherry and raspberry with a touch of citrus and sage, all carried on fine, gentle bubbles. Sweet but kept lively by a little fresh acidity.

What is the ABV?

It's a low 7%, so it's lighter than most sparkling wines and easy to sip without it catching up with you fast.

Is it sweet or dry?

Sweet. It carries around 80 g/l of sugar, which makes it more of a dessert-style fizz than a dry bubbly. Great if you like things on the sweeter side.

How do I serve it?

Chill it well, 5-6°C, and pour it in a flute or wine glass. No mixers, it's lovely on its own and brilliant at the end of a meal.

What pairs with it?

Anything sweet. Cakes, tarts, biscuits, pastries, fresh and dried fruit, or a slice of mandazi with chai. It's an after-dinner kind of wine.

Where is it from?

Italy, made by Bottega in Veneto in the north. It's built on the Manzoni grape crossing, which is why it's so floral and aromatic.
