Glenmorangie Nectar d’Or 12 Year Old 70cl

Glenmorangie Nectar d’Or 12 Year Old is a fruity single malt from the Glenmorangie distillery. It has a sweet and dessert-like flavour complemented by the wine casks from Sauternes. It is from these aromatic Sauternes casks that it gets its name – Nectar d’Or.

Like most Glenmorangie whiskies, this is smooth, soft, and gentle without any harsh or smoky flavours. Its nose is of lime and orange peel, coconut and sultanas, with spice and rich dried-fruit notes. There’s also the presence of dates which give it a rich and fruity hint. Right up front on the palate, Glenmorangie Nectar d’Or 12 Year Old has a warming taste with spicy notes of ginger and nutmeg. These precede flavours of toasted almonds and lemon. Tasting Notes

Colour: Honeyed gold  mirroring the Sauternes wine that shaped it.

Nose: Lime and orange rind, sultanas, and dates give a rich fruity opening, laced with tantalising spices of coconut and nutmeg. Floral notes combine with vanilla and honey for a very rewarding olfactory experience, with Pinot Gris, white grape skins, almonds, and rose water also surfacing.

Palate: Ginger, nutmeg, and toasted almonds bring a deep, warming taste, interwoven with a syrupy lemon meringue and honeycomb middle. White chocolate swirled with lemon cream and crème caramel round out the experience  underpinned by a gently spiced, silky oak note.

Finish: Long and lusciously sweet, with lemon zest, white chocolate, vanilla, and traces of ginger and nutmeg.
